Inside Music First Assignment

In composing music we have to be brave.  We have to share our music.  What's the point in composing if no one else ever hears it?  That's part of the reason I wanted us to use these blogs.  When I was first introduced to the INSIDE MUSIC website, I did several of the assignments, including the very first one:

To embed it on this blog, I copied the "embed code" from the Noteflight page, on the "share" tab.  Then, as I was composing this blog post I hit the "HTML" button and pasted it here.  Then I went back to the "COMPOSE" button and did the required reflection by answering the questions:

As I went back and sang the melody along with the playback, it definitely works but I don't think I followed the directions exactly.  It does end on the home tone, though.

Here's one of my own compositions, one that wasn't any sort of assignment.

BLOG!

Welcome to the Applied Music Theory class!

Your first in-class assignment is to create a composition blog.  Using these blogs we'll be able to easily hear and comment on each others' pieces, plus you can write responses to the Inside Music "Get Ready" exercises and summarize your compositions.

Go to http://www.blogger.com to get set up.  It will walk you through the process, and I can help if you need it.  Blogger is owned by Google, which is associated with your .ncsuvt school email account, so use that.  If you haven't ever used that account, I can help you get it set up.  Please call your blog something that makes sense to this class, such as "Jack's Compositions" or "Music by Jill."  There's no need to use your last name.

This is something that you can personalize.  Make it your own!  You will be accessing this blog a lot for assignments, so you may want a link to it somewhere (http://ncuhscomposition.blogspot.com)
