Inside Music has changed. It's now being run by a company called MusicFirst.
You should be able to go to https://ncuhs.musicfirstclassroom.com
and sign in with your same login info that you used. Today we begin
the next section - Lesson 3: Musical Dialogue. After you log in, go
ahead and explore the website a little bit and then try the Get Ready

2014-2015
The new school year has begun! "Applied Music Theory" (AKA "Music Composition") has two full-time students, one half year voluntary student, another new composition student trying to get in some composition in a different block, and one third-year composition student taking the course as an independent study.
So far, we've been working with Inside Music to "get ready," writing short melodies with skips, steps, and leaps. For example:
We've also started working on major & minor scales. Here's a place to practice them: http://www.musictheory.net/exercises/keysig
Now, it's time to create your own blog. Go to http://www.blogger.com to get set up (or you can use the blogger app on an iPad). It will walk you through the process, and I can help if you need it. Blogger is owned by Google, which is associated with your .ncsuvt school email account, so use that. If you haven't ever used that account, I can help you get it set up. Please call your blog something that makes sense to this class, such as "Jack's Compositions" or "Music by Jill." There's no need to use your last name.
This is something that you can personalize. Make it your own! You will be accessing this blog a lot for assignments, so you may want a link to it somewhere (http://ncuhscomposition.blogspot.com)

The Spidey Project
The Spidey Project is a theater piece based on Spiderman the Musical. It will be performed at NCUHS, and we have been given the opportunity to write/arrange music for it. There are many different options:
- Write music using themes from the original Spiderman TV show, Spiderman the Musical, and the Spidey Project. The themes can be weaved together, altered, and of course arranged for different groups.
- Write music with the same general feeling and sound.
- The music can be performed and recorded by the class, or
- the music can be written in Garage Band , or
- the music can be performed and recorded by another group, like Jazz Band or (even better) CONCERT BAND.

I'm still working on getting clips from the Spiderman Musical. Check back.
